Do you need a key?
Most AI tools here work without one: they use built-in logic in your browser, and a key replaces that with a language model for a stronger result. Two tools need a key to work at all β the AI Article Writer and the Comment Reply Assistant.
Choosing a provider
| Provider | Cost | Get a key |
|---|---|---|
| Groq | Free tier, fastest responses | console.groq.com/keys |
| Google Gemini | Free tier, strongest long-form | aistudio.google.com/apikey |
| OpenRouter | Several free models | openrouter.ai/keys |
| Anthropic Claude | Paid | console.anthropic.com |
| OpenAI (ChatGPT) | Paid, and may refuse requests from a browser | platform.openai.com/api-keys |
Groq is the easiest place to start: sign in, create a key, copy it. Free tiers come with limits on how much you can send each minute and each day, which is plenty for occasional use.
Adding the key
- Open any AI tool and choose Add a free AI key for stronger results. A tool that needs a key shows the form straight away.
- Pick the Provider you made the key with.
- Paste the key into API key and save it.
The tool then shows which provider and model it is using. Leave Model blank unless an error tells you the default model has been retired; then paste a current model name from the provider’s documentation.
Where the key is kept
In this browser, and nowhere else. It is never sent to this site, and every AI tool here shares it, so you add it once. In another browser or on another device you add it again. To change it, press Change; to delete it, press Remove key. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes it too.
What happens to the text you send is covered in What happens to your text when you use an AI key.
