Short answer: The tool ran into an error it did not expect. Nothing was uploaded. Reload the page and try again, and if it happens again, copy the details and send them to us.

What you see

A red box above the tool’s result, titled This tool hit a problem. Under the title is a line starting “Something went wrong:” followed by a short technical message, and two buttons: Reload page and Copy details for support.

The video tools show their own version of the same thing: Stopped at 42% (or This job stopped) with a Try again button. That one has its own answer: Video export stopped or the tab crashed.

What it means

The tool’s code ran into an error it did not expect. The usual causes are an unusual file, a browser that handles something differently from the others, or a mistake on our side.

The message comes from your browser, not from a server. Nothing was uploaded, and nothing you entered has gone anywhere.

What to do

  1. Press Reload page and try again. A fresh page clears whatever state the tool got into, and many of these errors never come back.
  2. Try another file. If the problem follows one particular file, open it in the app that made it and save or export a fresh copy. A file that is slightly damaged often opens fine in its own app but trips up a stricter reader.
  3. Try a private window. Most extensions are switched off there. Translation and ad-blocking extensions change the pages you visit, and occasionally that breaks a tool.
  4. Try another browser. See which browsers work.

Tell us, so we can fix it

If it keeps happening, press Copy details for support and paste the result into a message on the contact page. The details are which tool it was, the site version, the page address, your browser, how much memory your device reports, the time, and the error itself.

They never include your file or anything you typed into the tool. If the problem only happens with one file, say what kind of file it is and roughly how large — that is usually enough for us to reproduce it.
