How this tool works
Play the video, pause where a section should begin or end, and press Mark. Add as many sections as you need, put them in whatever order you want, and they are joined into one file. This is also how a middle part is removed: keep what comes before and what comes after, and the part between them is simply not in the result.
The sections are re-encoded into one continuous file rather than stitched together, so the joins are clean and the timestamps run without a break — a video whose sections each restart from zero confuses players and uploaders. Where the shape is changed, every section is fitted the same way, and a logo is drawn onto all of them, so the result looks like one clip rather than several pushed together.
Marking sections well
- Mark from the preview rather than typing times: pause where you want the cut and press Mark. Watching is far more accurate than guessing at a timecode, and the Go button jumps back to a mark so you can check it before encoding.
- Order is the order listed, not the order in the video: sections can be moved up and down, so a later moment can be placed first. That is useful for putting a strong moment at the front, which is most of what makes a short clip watched.
- To remove a middle part, keep the two outer parts: there is no delete — you mark what you want to keep. One section up to the unwanted bit and one after it produces the same result and is easier to check.
- Leave a moment either side of the cut: a section that starts exactly on a word and ends exactly on another sounds clipped. Half a second of air at each end makes a join sound deliberate rather than abrupt.
